15 NOW in Central Florida was initiated on September 3, 2014 at a meeting held at the Communications Workers of America, Local 3108 Union Hall.

Jeff Roby from 15 Now Tampa Bay gave a report on their activities and announced that they will be holding a Press Conference/Rally on September 27th at City Hall in St. Petersburg.

We spoke about some of the ways we hoped 15 Now could make a difference in our community. There were suggestions that we expand beyond fast food workers and reach out to retail workers, home healthcare attendants and tax preparers.

The group decided to hold a Press Conference/Rally on September 23rd in front of the Orange County Administration Building. Various supporters will speak at the Orange County Commission meeting and before holding the press conference.

It was also decided that as many people as could make it would stand in solidarity with striking fast food workers the following day. Actions are to take place in Orlando and Tampa.

Initial endorsers of 15 Now Central Florida include; Miguel Adams, Director, Speak Up Florida, Analise Alvarez, Melanie Alves, Benjamin Balak PhD, Associate Professor of Economics, Rollins College, Florida, Nelson Betancourt, Orange County Public Banking Initiative, Phyllis Hancock, President, A.
